Room Leader

Essential criteria:

Relevant level 3 childcare qualification (or above)
Good knowledge of the EYFS
1 years experience within an Early Years setting (preferably with pre-school children)
Good verbal and written communication skills
Basic ICT skills
To work as part of a team
Safeguarding knowledge
Enthusiasm to support and extend children's learning through high quality planned activities
To plan engaging activities for the room
Confidence in managing a room
Desirable:

Located locally or willing to drive
Full/ clean driving license
Ability to support staff/students
Job description

Key responsibilities:

Safeguarding – understand and adhere to the setting’s safeguarding policies and follow procedures to keep children safe and secure and ensure that others at the setting are adhering to the policy. Report safeguarding concerns
Adhere to the setting’s Ethos
Ensure the health and safety compliance
Be fully aware of all emergency and security procedures eg registering children, collection policy and fire safety procedures
Ensuring the highest level of hygiene and cleanliness standards during care routines eg nappy changing, food preparation and bedding areas
Support the emotional, physical, social and intellectual needs of all children attending the setting
Extend and support children’s learning at all times
Plan, prepare and deliver activities and experiences which promote children’s learning and development using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) ·
Maintaining accurate and effective children’s records
Working in partnership with the setting (SENCO), behaviour coordinator and other agencies and professionals
Demonstrate good practice in supporting children with additional needs.
Carry out and meet the requirements of the Key Person role to a high standard
In the Key Person role, create positive working relationships and partnerships with parents to promote parental involvement.
Respect the confidentiality of children and their families at all times
Prepare the room for the next session/day
Work together and respect colleagues
Carry out proper tidy up and cleaning at the end of the /session day
Learning and development:

Demonstrate a willingness to attend training and to take opportunities for continuous professional development
Communicate and support one another through daily routine
Attend staff meetings and engage in self-development appraisals and supervisions.
