Preschool Assistant

Tas Valley Pre-School & Playgroup located in the village of Tasburgh. We aim to provide the highest standard of care and education where children are actively encouraged to explore, learn, and interact with others.

We are looking for a part-time Preschool Assistant to join the team - 24 hours per week (Term Time only). Hours/Days may be negotiable for the right candidate.

Must be Level 2 Early Years qualified.

Main Responsibilities

Understand and follow all policies and procedures
Adhere to the setting’s safeguarding policies and follow all procedures to keep children safe and secure and ensure that others at the setting are adhering to the policies
Ensure the health, cleanliness and safety of the children and their environment at all times
Be fully aware of all emergency and security procedures e.g., fire safety procedures, completion of accident book.
Support the emotional, physical, social, spiritual, and intellectual needs of all children attending the setting
Observe, extend, and support children’s learning
Respect the confidentiality of children and their families
Help to prepare and deliver activities and experiences which promote children’s learning and development using the Early Years Foundation Stage
Work in partnership with the setting SENCO and any other agencies or professionals as appropriate
Support appropriate behaviour among the children and encourage independence and formation of good relationships
If a Keyworker, use written observations and other evidence to update children’s learning stories and plan appropriate next steps
Create positive working relationships with parents and other carers
Demonstrate a flexible approach to day-to-day duties and responsibilities
Follow the instructions of the supervisor and work with them to implement any recommendations of OFSTED or other regulatory bodies
Attend staff meetings and engage in appraisals
Attend relevant training and keep up-to-date with changes and legislation
Work with other staff as a willing team member
Help to set up equipment and activities prior to the start of the session, and to clear away afterwards, reporting any damages or stock shortages
Be committed to attending agreed sessions, and if ill, give the Supervisor as much warning as possible
This post involves working with children and will therefore be subject to a satisfactory DBS check.
