NURSERY ROOM MANAGER

Salary: Scale E £10.13-£10.97 per hour
Part-time: 30 hours per week, Monday- Friday, all year round.

Bignold is a happy, inclusive and diverse school based in the centre of Norwich which is part of the Evolution Academy Trust. We are looking for a new Nursery Room Manager, for three to four year olds, to join our friendly Early Years Team. This is a highly-regarded room within our setting which opened in February 2018. It focuses on providing the best quality, full day, 50 weeks per year, care and education for all our children.

If you are successful you will be a lead practitioner in this vibrant and inclusive Early Years setting with our Assistant Headteacher as your line manager. We are looking to appoint ambitious and proactive practitioners who are keen to develop their careers and there is the possibility of potential career development and promotion in the future as we continue to review and evaluate our provision.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Achieving and maintaining high standards of care and education.
• Ensuring all policies, procedures and curriculums are implemented and adhered to at all times.
• Keeping abreast of current early childhood thinking and trends.
• Being influential in developing strong links with parents.
• Managing all the day to day operations of the nursery including staff rotas, supervision, appraisals and practitioner development (admissions and finance will be managed by the EYFS Administration Officer).

A successful candidate will have:
• The intelligence, enthusiasm and patience required for the big responsibility of caring for children.
• A warm, patient, caring personality with a good sense of humour and lots of enthusiasm and passion.
• A secure knowledge of EYFS and how to nurture the best out of every child.
• A thorough understanding, and experience of leading others, on how children are at the centre of their own learning and how adults play a vital, but sensitive role, in ensuring their needs are met by listening, playing and taking action.
• Excellent communication skills in order to foster positive relationships with children, staff and families.
• A resilient personality and a growth mind set when faced with challenges.
• An outstanding attitude that ensures a safe and secure environment is provided for all the children within the current ethos of our lovely primary school.

You will need to have the following qualifications, training and experience:
• At least level 3 or above.
• Strong staff management skills and be able to demonstrate that you can get the best from your staff team.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a pre-school/Nursery setting.
• Experience of managing a Nursery previously is preferable, but an experienced Deputy Manager who has worked in a large Nursery would also be considered for this role.
• Playing a key role in recently taking a Nursery through a successful Ofsted inspection, will be desirable.
• Excellent knowledge of health and safety legislation.
• Excellent knowledge of the most current EYFS policies and practice.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work to targets and deadlines.
• Good time management skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong people management skills.
• Knowledge and understanding of equal opportunities/SEND.
