Little Owls Scarning is offering an exciting position for a nursery chef.

Little Owls offers 2 high quality settings based in both Toftwood and Scarning based outside the market town of Dereham. Little Owls offers Outstanding care and education for children from 6 weeks to 4 years old. Our Toftwood Little Owls setting is registered for 52 children with our Toftwood nursery being registered for 100 children.

Hours of work

20-25 hours per week Monday – Friday between 9am – 2pm. All year round.

Hourly Rate - £10.00 per hour

Description of Duties
We are seeking an experienced cook to prepare & serve healthy meals for our children at our Scarning Little Owls. Our cook on average prepares and cooks up to 30-35 cooked meals each day. The termly planned menus are offered on a 2-week rolling menu while making necessary adaptions to the daily meals to cater for those with allergies and intolerances.
Weekly food ordering from Brakes will be managed by our Scarning manager
.
Our cook is reasonable for preparing and serving up the daily meals as well as helping prepare for simple daily nursery teas.
Kitchen Cleanliness, record keeping and general stock control is part of the position as well as participating in environmental yearly inspections.

Our ideal candidate would have previous experience of cooking within an education, hospitality or care setting. They would also hold a level 2/3 Basic Food hygiene certificate (or be prepared to complete an online course to obtain one) previous knowledge of the ‘Safer Food Better Business’ however full training will be given by our current senior Toftwood chef.

Support

Our cooks also offer support for each setting to help cook the meals for each setting to cover annual leave. These are planned well in advance and the menus are simplified to help with these periods.

Our Scarning cook is supported by our Head chef who is based at our Toftwood nursery. Menu planning, trouble shooting and full support will be provided by our head chef as well as our Nursery Operations Manager, Scarning Manager and Deputy Manager.
