Our Family Support Team based in Breckland House in Thetford are seeking to recruit an experienced Family Support Practitioner. This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Practitioner in Children’s Services.

Family Support encompasses the work of a range of partner organisations to support families and individuals, often during challenging times. Much of this work is undertaken in partnership with others. The development of universal Early Help Hub across Norfolk has helped to gain a greater understanding of the work of partners and to deliver networks and collaboration for the benefit of the residents of Norfolk.

Family Support is the targeted end of Early Help, operating at the edge of more intensive and/or statutory services. As a Practitioner, you will provide support to families who have the most complex needs, who without targeted support, their situation will escalate to become acute, chronic and costly to the child/young person and their family requiring social care or other statutory intervention. There is a strong emphasis on partnership working across all agencies, and Family Practitioners undertake direct work with families in the community to bring about long lasting social change.

The role is to undertake direct work with the children and their families, working within statutory legislation and delivering interventions prioritised by your line manager. You will be accountable for achieving required team performance targets (particularly Step Up/Step Downs and DC LG Troubled Families payment by results targets).
