Family Services Practitioner (Part Time)

£7,786.08 per annum (£9.19 per hour) Part time Term Time Only 24-06-2019 Level 3 childcare qualification
The role will involve working directly with families in one to one sessions, groups & signposting following our Family Services offer.

Purpose of the job: Parents of children or young adults with complex health needs and disabilities need time to adjust and learn to care for the needs of their children / young adults from diagnosis onwards. Young adults need support with accessing services, especially in the transition from child to adult services. Access to services, support and other respite care needs a careful adjustment and time to gain confidence in the care their child will receive. The job will be assist the development of ongoing support for families in a range of activities across the adult and children’s centres and will involve some outreach work and home visiting.

Person Specification:

• Qualified to at least level 3 in a relevant area e.g. Health and Social Care, Early Years, Education.
• At least 3 years’ experience of supporting children and/or young people with disabilities and their families.
• Have experience and knowledge of safeguarding thresholds, the Family Support Process, Signs of Safety and special education needs assessments.
• Evidence of keeping up to date with practice and developments in the sector.
• Experience working with a variety of processionals
Communication and Team work:
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Proactive and resourceful with the ability to work on your own initiative.
• A working knowledge of Word and Excel, and internet programmes.
• Ability to work in a team.
• Have a non-judgemental empathetic attitude towards others
• Highly organised and methodical in approach to work.

• Ability to work some irregular hours including weekends on occasions.
• Demonstrate understanding of, and consistently work to, the values of The Hamlet
• Able to deal with difficult situations and/or individuals in a calm, fair but effective manner
• Access to a car and willing to travel as necessary for work purposes

• Degree level qualification in related field.
• Training or relevant experience within the field of Family Support Working and Practice or Transition services.
• Experience of attending multi-agency meetings for families such as ‘Child in Need’ or ‘Section 47’ child protection meetings.
• Relevant Special Educational Needs training. E.g. Experience of being a SENDco.
• Ability to use Sign language and/or other forms of communication methods
• Use of data bases.

Hours: 18 hours a week - term time only, plus 12 days in school holidays across the year.

Salary: £7786.08 per annum (£9.19 per hour)
