Purpose of the job:
To support the pre-school by providing high quality care and learning opportunities for children aged 2 to 5 years, both those with and without disabilities.
To support Early Explorers by providing high quality care and learning opportunities for children aged 2 to 5 years, both those with and without disabilities. To ensure that records of individual children are maintained and information shared with appropriate staff / parents.
All children and young people attending deserve the best experience that we are able to offer in a warm and safe environment. Children must have a sense of belonging, of being welcome and be able to grow in confidence and self-esteem. The practitioner will support independence, choice, integration and inclusion in the community.

Person Specification
1. Hold a full and relevant level 3 early years vocational qualification that meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (essential)
2. Have a detailed knowledge and awareness of Child Protection in an early years setting (essential)
3. Be able to work effectively within a team (essential)
4. Have a high standard of written and spoken English and the ability to carry out basic administration duties with evidence of this (essential)
5. Have experience of working with children/young people with disabilities in an early years setting (desirable)
6. Have experience of working with children with complex health needs in an early years or similar setting (desirable)
7. Have an understanding of the learning and development needs of children and an ability to plan for their learning effectively through a working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage with some guidance (essential)
8. Be Prepared to use the skills you have, and demonstrate an enthusiasm and energy to join in and get involved (essential)
9. Have an understanding of the challenges that disabled young people and their families can face on a daily basis and an appreciation of the barriers to inclusion that disabled people and their families experience (essential)
10. Be able to demonstrate an ability to communicate to a range of people and abilities (essential)
11. Show a willingness to undertake training as required for the role (essential)

Desirable:
Current First Aid certificate, ability to sign, medication training, manual handling driving
licence.

Hours: 12.5 hours per week (6 ¼ per day) Term Time Only - Tuesday and Wednesday 8.45-3.30(Includes 30 minute non paid lunch break)

Salary: £4892.04 per annum (£9.19 per hour)
