RMC Care Service t/a The Tiffin Day Nursery is a small 25 place nursery setting that supports children from Birth to 5 years and we have up to 6 Adult Nursery Practitioners. The nursery has successfully operated for 10 years and has a reputation for offering high quality care and offers children’s food as part of it 360-degree proposition.
After taking a safety break due to COVID restrictions we are now ready to re-start our very successful, highly demanded children’s food service with an opportunity to grow the business into a stand-alone service.
We believe that offering ‘DELICIOUS’ and ‘NUTRITIOUS’ Low sugar / Low salt meals is a right all children should have access to in their early years.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and talented Chef/Cook who has great home cooking skills but has ambitions to take this opportunity to the next level.
· You will need to have some commercial knowledge of food preparation, an understanding of cost-conscious ingredient sourcing and an ability to offer a variety of meals that offer a balanced weekly menu that includes Non-Vegetarian, Vegetarian and Vegan Meals.
· All meals need to be prepared fresh daily. You must have a good understanding of Allergy management.
· Offering high quality children’s food has always been part of our 360degree approach to child development and the parents and children have really missed the offering.
· We are passionate about giving all the children in our care the best start to their Early Years’ experience and a good quality food offering combined with excellent early years education and care is important to us.
· Due to the nature of the position, successful candidates will be required to complete an enhanced DBS disclosure prior to commencement of employment due to the nature of the setting. You will be expected to be an advocate for our stringent Safeguarding Polices.
· We have strict COVID protocols in place and you will be required to follow these protocols and wear the necessary PPE in the setting.

· Minimum Part Time 25 hours per week to start with (Potential for 40 Hours Full Time per week, part time/term time only, to full time/all year round)
· Monday to Friday 9am to 2.00pm

ROLE PURPOSE:
To work in partnership with the Nursery Director and Nursery Manager to prepare, cook and bake 5 days of Snacks, a 2 Course Lunch and Afternoon Teas. The day to day tasks will vary within your role, however, you will be responsible for the day to day running of the Nursery Kitchen with the potential development of a Food Education Programme. The nursery kitchen must be kept to a high level of cleanliness and you will also be responsible for maintaining our 10 years record of 5 Star Food Hygiene status.

· Nursery Directors and Nursery Manager as appropriate
ACCOUNTABLE FOR:
Operational
· Prepare attractive nutritional standard meals
· Sourcing quality ingredients, keeping food costs as low as possible
· Controlling and ordering stock and inspecting all produce received on day of delivery
· Preparing meat, poultry and fish for cooking following food standards protocols
· Preparing quantities of fruit, vegetables and salads
· High level of understanding of Food Allergy management and ingredient substitutes
· Baking snacks, cakes and desserts
· Cooking and presenting food creatively
· Monitoring and maintaining quality and consistent portion sizes
· Working under pressure to make sure food is served on time
· Take part in weekly/monthly deep cleaning.
· Completion of all required registers and kitchen logs.
· Manage all stock and labelling
· Monitor expiry of food and carry out stock rotation.
· Complete daily fridge/freezer temperatures.
· Monitor pest control and report any problems.
· Keeping to hygiene, health and safety and food preparation rules
· Maintaining, Monitoring and Revising Food Hygiene Procedures to maintain the Nursery’s 5 Star Food Rating
· Carrying out Opening, Closing and Equipment checks
· Adhering to allergens, nutrition and dietary requirements
· Interested in developing a Food Education Programme
· Working with the Nursery Owner to develop a food retail proposition
· Liaise with the Director and Nursery Manager
· Adhere to Company Policies and Procedures and comply with the Children’s Acts of 1989 and 2004 and Children and Families Act 2014
· Work with the Directors and Nursery Manager in organising and attending events that publicise the Nursery. This may include weekends.
· Support the Directors and Nursery Manager in developing and maintaining links within the local community to create a positive nursery profile.
· Support the Directors and Nursery Manager in creating and maintaining successful partnerships with parents/carers.
· Adhere to the Company’s reporting procedure.

· To report and record all accidents, incidents and to be aware of all risk assessments within the nursery.
· To implement the necessary health and safety, fire, accidents and emergency procedures in accordance with the Nursery’s policies and procedures.

· To be flexible and undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by the Directors and Nursery Manager.
· You may be required to perform duties, appropriate to the post, other than those given in the job description.
