Gingerbreads Out of School Care Ltd is a thriving and successful, Ofsted registered 'Good' After School and Holiday Club in Downham Market, based in the Children’s Centre on Snape Lane, providing care for children aged from 3 – 11 yrs old.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated After School Club Play Worker to join our small but committed team of staff, working up to 5 afternoons per week during term time only. Typical hours will be approx. 2.30-6.15pm, during term time. We can offer flexible working arrangements and would consider a job share arrangement. We would need the candidate to be flexible and cover for absence and sickness as required.

You will be a good team player, have recent experience of working with children of school age and have an understanding of child protection and safe working practices. It is preferable that you hold a relevant childcare or play work qualification at level 2 or 3 but not essential. A willingness to undertake such training would be a distinct advantage.

Duties will include assisting with the preparation of day to day routines including collection of children from school, facilitating snack time, setting up the room, preparing and supervising activities, supervising outdoor play, meal time support and general clearing and cleaning duties. We need someone who can support children’s play and work as a team to provide a safe, secure and happy environment for children.

Good communication skills are essential as is ensuring the children’s safety, welfare and well-being at all times. Our setting, although a relaxed and happy one, is a very busy one, so it is vital that you are pro-active, organised, have bags of energy and can carry out tasks effectively and efficiently, in a timely manner.

Salary advertised is pro rata. Actual salary is dependant on age, experience and qualifications. Candidates shall receive a uniform, regular training & CPD opportunities and paid holiday entitlement.
